Kyocera Dome Osaka, Dome stadium in Nishi-ku, Osaka, Japan.
Kyocera Dome Osaka is a covered sports stadium in Nishi-ku, Osaka, with a moveable roof and room for more than 36,000 spectators during baseball games. The building rises near the Aji River and offers multiple tiers of seating that wrap around the central playing field.
Construction began in January 1992 following designs by architecture firm Nikken Sekkei. The venue opened in March 1997 and was first known as Osaka Dome before receiving its current name in 2006.
This venue carries the name of electronics company Kyocera, which acquired naming rights in 2006. Visitors experience the energy of Japanese baseball culture here when Orix Buffaloes fans cheer their team with coordinated chants and trumpet calls.
Visitors reach the venue easily via Dome-mae Chiyozaki Metro station or Taisho JR station, both a short walk away. On game days, arriving early helps avoid crowding at entry points during larger events.
The roof can open or close completely in about twenty minutes, allowing games to proceed regardless of changing weather. During concerts, the playing field is covered with a stage, and the layout then accommodates up to 55,000 attendees.
