Abeno-ku, Administrative ward in southern Osaka, Japan.
Abeno-ku contains the Abeno Harukas building, which rises 300 meters high and houses department stores, offices, an art museum, and observation floors.
The ward emerged from the division of Sumiyoshi ward on April 1, 1943, when Osaka increased its administrative districts from 15 to 22 wards.
The name Abeno derives from an ancient Japanese clan that maintained substantial influence in the region during the early periods of Japanese history.
Multiple train lines connect at Tennoji Station, including the Midosuji Line, Tanimachi Line, and Hankai Tramway, making the ward easily accessible from central Osaka.
The Abeno Harukas Kintetsu Department Store spans over 100,000 square meters across two buildings, making it the largest department store in Japan.
