Fujinomiya, Industrial city in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

Fujinomiya is an industrial city on the southwestern slope of Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture. The settlement extends across forested valleys and flat fields that rise from the town edge toward the lower slopes of the mountain.

The city formed in 1942 from the merger of Omiya town with Fujioka village. Additional villages joined over the following decades to shape the present territory.

The name Fujinomiya means shrine of Fuji and refers to the central temple that has preserved the spiritual tradition around the mountain for centuries. Visitors today still see the solemn rituals and white-clothed pilgrims preparing for their ascent.

Multiple bus lines connect the city to surrounding areas and the fifth station on Mount Fuji, which serves as the starting point for hikers. Traveling in the early morning hours helps avoid crowds.

Shiraito Falls emerge from underground springs that flow directly through the porous volcanic rock of Mount Fuji, forming a natural water curtain landscape. The falls lie within the city limits and remain accessible even outside climbing season.
