Mt. Akiha, Summit in Tenryū-ku, Hamamatsu, Japan
Mount Akiha rises 866 meters above sea level as part of the Akaishi Mountains in Shizuoka Prefecture, featuring Japanese cedar and cypress trees along its slopes.
The establishment of Akihasan Hongū Akiha Shrine on the mountain dates back to 709 CE during the second year of the Wadou Era in Japan.
The December Fire Festival presents three traditional performances including bow dance, sword dance, and fire dance, drawing numerous participants to the mountain.
Visitors can reach the summit through hiking trails or drive from the lower shrine to the upper shrine in approximately twenty minutes.
The Tengu plate throw ritual involves participants writing wishes on clay plates and throwing them at targets near the shrine complex.
