The dam carries two different pronunciations among locals, with power development personnel using 'Akiha' while others maintain the 'Akiba' pronunciation.
Three hydroelectric power stations connected to the dam generate a combined capacity of 128,000 kilowatts while supplying water to Hamamatsu industries.
Visitors can observe the dam's complete structure from a suspension bridge that provides direct views of the concrete gravity engineering.
