Kiyosu, Historic castle city in Aichi Prefecture, Japan
Kiyosu spreads across 17 square kilometers of the Nōbi Plain along the Shōnai River, adjacent to the eastern metropolis of Nagoya.
The city gained prominence between 1394 and 1427 when Kiyosu Castle was constructed to protect the junction of the Ise Kaidō and Nakasendō highways.
The Kiyosu Castle Warrior Brigade performs traditional samurai demonstrations, including matchlock gun firing and historical reenactments throughout the city streets.
The castle tower welcomes visitors from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm with entry fees of 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for elementary students.
The Former Castle Ruins Park displays bronze statues of Oda Nobunaga and Princess No, representing their vision of Japanese unification.
