Daisen, Administrative city in eastern Akita Prefecture, Japan

Daisen extends across 866 square kilometers of land between the Ou Mountains in the east and Dewa Mountains in the west of Akita Prefecture.

The establishment of Daisen occurred on March 22, 2005, through the consolidation of seven towns and one village from the Semboku District.

The National Fireworks Competition in August attracts over 700,000 visitors to witness both daytime and nighttime pyrotechnic displays in Daisen.

The city maintains twenty public elementary schools, thirteen middle schools, and six high schools, serving its population of 76,277 residents.

A 500-year-old Giant Tug of War Festival takes place each February 10th in Kariwano district, using two enormous ropes for community participation.
