Sakura

Sakura is a city in Tochigi Prefecture in northern Japan, situated within a region marked by mountains and traditional Japanese architecture. The urban layout reflects the merging of two former towns into one administrative area.

The city originated from a castle town foundation and gained official city status in 2005 when two smaller municipalities merged together. This consolidation shaped how the place is organized and administered today.

The National Museum of Japanese History houses collections that trace how Japanese society developed across many centuries. The exhibits show everyday objects and artworks that reveal how people lived in different periods.

The city is accessible by JR and Keisei railway lines, which provide direct connections to Tokyo and Narita International Airport. Regular train services make it easy to reach from outside the region.

A Dutch-style windmill at Sakura Furusato Square stands out against the traditional surroundings. The structure sits amid seasonal flower displays that draw visitors throughout the year.
