Komagane, Mountain city in Nagano, Japan

Komagane extends between the Central and Southern Alps, with mountains reaching 3000 meters and containing 150 species of alpine plants in the Senjojiki Cirque.

The city formed on July 1, 1954, through the consolidation of Akaho and Miyata towns with Nakasawa and Ina villages in the Kamiina District.

The Komagane Silk Museum documents the regional silk production methods through exhibits, silkworm cultivation demonstrations, and traditional dyeing workshops.

The Central Alps Komagatake Ropeway carries passengers to Senjojiki Station at 8,570 feet in elevation during a 7.5-minute journey.

The 2612 Café holds the distinction of being the highest-elevation café in Japan, offering local specialties including 2612 Ale beer.
