Ueno Zoo, Zoo in Ueno Park, Tokyo, Japan

The 14.3-hectare facility contains two main sections, the East Gardens and West Gardens, housing 3,000 animals from 300 different species.

Founded in 1882 as Japan's first zoological garden, the institution began as a menagerie connected to the National Museum of Natural History.

The zoo maintains a collection of native Japanese wildlife, including Hokkaido brown bears and Japanese serows, representing the country's natural heritage.

Located near Ueno Station, the zoo operates daily from 9:30 to 17:00, offering accessibility features for visitors with reduced mobility.

The facility houses giant pandas, which exist in only three locations across Japan, making it a center for panda research and conservation.
