Toride Station, Railway interchange station in Toride, Japan
Toride Station is a railway interchange in Toride, Japan, with four island platforms serving multiple tracks for both local and rapid trains. The facility has eastern and western entrances that provide access to the different platforms.
The terminal opened on December 25, 1896, and was operated by Japanese National Railways for decades. After privatization in 1987, East Japan Railway Company took over management.
The facility brings together two railway companies at a site where travelers once stopped along the old post road. Nearby, a velodrome recalls the town's role in regional sports.
Ticket offices for both railway companies are staffed and can help with connections and fare questions. The elevated position of the tracks makes it easier to navigate between different lines.
The route from Nippori measures roughly 51 kilometers (32 miles) and ends where the Joban Line meets the Joso Line. At this point, travelers switch between two different operating companies.
