Located between the Matsukawa and Chikuma rivers, Suzaka extends across 149.6 square kilometers of northern Nagano Prefecture with a population of 50,828 residents.

The city emerged as a castle town during the Edo period, functioning as the center of Suzaka Domain before its formal establishment as a modern municipality in 1889.

The Municipal Zoo and Garyu Park, recognized among Japan's leading cherry blossom locations, represent central gathering spaces for seasonal celebrations and community events.

The Nagano Electric Railway connects Suzaka Station to major regional destinations, with an average of 3,052 daily passengers utilizing its five-track platform configuration.

During the Meiji period, Suzaka developed as a silk production center before transitioning to electronics manufacturing with the establishment of Fujitsu Corporation facilities.
