Wakatsuki

Wakatsuki is a mountain region in the Nagano Basin with dense forests and views of the Northern Japan Alps. The terrain spreads across different elevations with numerous peaks visible in the distance.

Residents here practice time-honored farming in terraced fields and prepare preserved foods using techniques passed down through generations.

Hiking trails through the area connect to larger networks across Nagano Prefecture and are marked with signage and rest stations. The paths remain accessible year-round but require caution on snow-covered terrain during winter months.

Natural springs flow through the area and are used by local farmers in their cultivation, creating specialized growing conditions for mountain vegetables. These water sources allow farmers to grow crops at high elevations that are difficult to find elsewhere.
