長野市少年科学センター

The Nagano City Youth Science Center is located in Jōyama Park and features exhibitions on space, physics, biology, and modern technology. Each exhibition area uses interactive displays and hands-on experiments to engage visitors in learning.

The center opened on July 28, 1985, and served the local community for nearly four decades. It closed in March 2022 to undergo transformation into a children's facility.

The entrance features a public art piece called "Picnic" by Toyoshige Watanabe that expresses the connection between people and the natural world through its red, white, and green colors. This artwork sets the tone for what visitors experience inside the building.

The facility sits within Jōyama Park, making it easy to locate and surrounded by open space for walking and resting. Plan to spend time exploring the interactive areas, which work best when visited in smaller groups.

The facility housed a flight simulator and express train control equipment that allowed visitors to experience what it feels like to operate these machines. A dedicated adventure plaza with ball pools provided a playspace where younger children could explore and have fun.
