Takamatsu Station, Railway station in Hamanochō, Japan
Takamatsu Station is a railway station in Hamanochō, Japan, connecting several rail lines across Shikoku. The facility has four bay platforms with nine tracks and provides direct connections to Okayama via the bridge crossing the Seto Inland Sea.
The station opened on February 21, 1897, and served as a key junction for rail development across Shikoku. After the privatization of Japanese National Railways in 1987, it transferred to JR Shikoku management.
The station sits near several restaurants known for their Sanuki udon noodles. Travelers use it as a starting point for trips to the nearby islands in the Seto Inland Sea.
The station handles over 9,000 passengers each day and offers connections to different destinations across the island. For travelers heading to Okayama, the Marine Liner runs regularly across the long bridge through the Seto Inland Sea.
The station serves as the end point of the Yosan Line, which extends nearly 300 kilometers to Uwajima. It also marks the end of the Kōtoku Line heading to Tokushima.
