Kōnan-ku, Administrative ward in Niigata, Japan
Kōnan-ku extends over 75 square kilometers in north-central Niigata Prefecture, bordered by three rivers: the Agano, Koagano, and Shinano.
The ward territory originated from Echigo Province, with Kameda town and Yokogoshi village established in 1889 within Nakakanbara District of Niigata Prefecture.
The educational infrastructure includes eleven public elementary schools, six public middle schools, and one public high school managed by the Niigata Prefecture.
Transportation through the ward connects via JR East Shin'etsu Main Line railway stations and regular Niigata Kotsu bus services throughout the district.
