Tatsuno

Tatsuno extends north to south in southwestern Hyogo Prefecture, with mountains in the north, the Seto Inland Sea in the south, and the Ibo River flowing through.

The Wakisaka clan governed Tatsuno for 200 years from 1672, developing it into a castle town before the Meiji Restoration transformed Japan's political structure.

The city maintains numerous samurai residences and traditional white-walled storehouses that represent the architectural heritage of previous centuries.

Tatsuno operates 16 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 2 high schools, serving a population of 74,414 residents across 49 square kilometers.

The city produces somen noodles and soy sauce while transforming into a residential area with 25 percent of workers commuting to nearby Himeji.
