Tokigawa

Tokigawa is a small town in central Saitama Prefecture surrounded by eight neighboring municipalities, including Chichibu and Hannō. The rural area covers approximately 56 square kilometers and is home to around 10,000 residents.

The town was created in 2006 when Myōkaku and Tamagawa, two villages originally established in 1889, merged together. This consolidation brought two historic communities under a single administration.

Jiko-ji temple, located here, is part of the Bandō Sanjūsankasho pilgrimage route, drawing visitors who follow this spiritual path across the region. The temple anchors the community's connection to a long-standing religious tradition.

The town is served by three elementary schools and two middle schools, providing infrastructure for family visits. Its rural setting allows visitors to enjoy a quiet atmosphere and direct access to the surrounding landscape.

The area is home to two traditional hot spring resorts, Tamagawa onsen and Tokigawa onsen, where visitors can bathe year-round surrounded by countryside. These natural thermal baths are appreciated for their relaxing properties and rural setting.
