法恩寺

Located on forested grounds, Hoonji Temple features a two-story pagoda with moss-covered stone pathways leading to multiple wooden structures and monuments.

Founded in 738 by monk Gyoki, the temple underwent reconstruction in 1190 under Minamoto no Yoritomo after suffering damage during the Hogen and Heiji Rebellions.

The temple holds several national treasures, including silk paintings of Koya and Nyu deities inscribed by Emperor Go-Toba and donated by Minamoto no Yoritomo.

Situated at 704 Ogose, Iruma District, the temple belongs to the Shingon Buddhist Chizan school and maintains regular visiting hours throughout the year.

Two natural springs known as Kinmeisui and Ginmeisui continue to flow from ancient wells within the temple grounds, providing water to the complex.
