Minami-ku, Administrative ward in Yokohama, Japan
Minami-ku encompasses ten distinct neighborhoods across 12.67 square kilometers, with a population density of 15,550 residents per square kilometer.
The district emerged from the division of Naka Ward on December 1, 1943, and underwent further territorial reorganization in 1969 with the creation of Konan Ward.
Gumyoji Temple, established as the first Buddhist temple in Yokohama, stands as a primary religious center in the southern section of Minami-ku.
The ward office provides essential administrative services and offers English-speaking assistance through volunteer interpreters every Friday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The Ooka River flows through the ward, featuring cherry blossom trees along its banks and connecting multiple residential neighborhoods.
