Oshima District, Administrative district in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan

Ōshima district extends across multiple islands, containing eleven municipalities including Amagi, China, Isen, and Kikai, covering 934 square kilometers of territory.

The district experienced significant changes when it fell under United States Army control in February 1946, followed by a period of administrative transitions until 1953.

Each municipality within Ōshima district maintains specific traditions and practices, including local festivals and distinct culinary preparations that reflect island heritage.

Transportation between the municipalities relies on ferry services and Kikai Airport, which serves as the primary aerial connection point for the district.

The district participated in the Amami Reversion Movement during the United States occupation, using the phrase 'restoration of Ōshima District' as a symbol.
