Agui is a town in the Chita district located on the inland portion of Chita Peninsula. The area features residential neighborhoods and local shops that serve the daily needs of people living here.
The name Agui appears in documents dating to the Asuka and Nara periods, when the region was shaped by various local powers. During the Muromachi period, the Hisamatsu clan controlled this territory.
The town maintains four elementary schools, one junior high school, and one high school, supporting education for the local population of 28,291 residents.
Agui Station provides train connections via the Meitetsu Kowa Line to surrounding communities. Visitors should prepare for local routes to explore the town.
The town reached its current administrative status in 1953 after a referendum rejected a proposed merger with neighboring Handa in December 2004.
