Matsuzaki, Coastal town in Kamo District, Japan

The town of Matsuzaki extends along the southwest coast of Izu Peninsula with its ria coastline facing the Pacific Ocean at Suruga Bay.

During the Edo period, Matsuzaki served as a crucial port for transporting stones used in the construction of Edo Castle in present-day Tokyo.

Traditional Namako wall houses line the streets of Matsuzaki, displaying the characteristic black diamond pattern architecture of the region's merchant buildings.

Visitors can purchase the Nishi Izu Kanko Free Pass at Matsuzaki bus station for unlimited travel on local buses throughout the western Izu region.

The town maintains 85 square kilometers of territory, with forests covering 64 percent of the total land area, creating a natural environment.
