Shimamoto

Shimamoto is a town in Mishima District situated between Tennozan and Otokoyama mountains where three rivers converge. The area features railway stations, roadways, and a landscape shaped by its position at the meeting point of these waterways.

The town was formed in 1889 through the merger of several villages and renamed Shimamoto-cho in 1940. This transformation reflects how isolated settlements were brought together into a single administrative entity.

The Minase Shrine draws visitors from across Osaka Prefecture who come to experience its spiritual significance. The site remains an important place where locals and travelers connect with the area's religious traditions.

Two railway stations connect the area to nearby cities, and a highway provides access for drivers traveling through the region. Plan which station works best for your route before arriving.

A whiskey distillery established here in 1923 was the first of its kind in Japan. Visitors can join guided tours with English audio to explore the production facility.
