Soraku District, Administrative district in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan.
Sōraku district spans 178 square kilometers across four municipalities: Kasagi, Wazuka, Seika, and Minamiyamashiro, featuring mountainous landscapes and agricultural regions.
The district emerged as an administrative entity on April 10, 1879, during the Meiji period reforms that restructured Japan's local government system.
The district maintains strong connections to traditional tea cultivation, particularly in Wazuka, where farmers produce high-grade Ujicha tea across terraced hillsides.
Regular bus and train services connect the district's towns to central Kyoto, with the main transportation hub located in Seika municipality.
The district transformed in 2007 when three of its original towns merged to form Kizugawa City, reducing the number of municipalities from seven to four.
