Our virgen de katy

Our Virgen de Katy is a Marian apparition site in Yuzawadai, Akita, Japan, where a nun experienced visions inside a convent. The chapel houses a hand-carved statue made from a single Katsura tree trunk and standing about three feet tall.

Agnes Sasagawa received three messages during the second half of 1973 that spoke about faith and coming times. The events drew attention beyond Japan and later led to investigation by the local bishop.

The wooden statue that Sister Agnes saw in her visions carries a name linking Catholic devotion with Japanese language and local expression. Pilgrims from different countries come here to pray and visit the convent chapel where the nun experienced her encounters.

The convent sits in Yuzawadai district and opens to visitors throughout the year who wish to enter the chapel. Services take place regularly and guests can join in communal prayer.

The statue showed tears over six years that appeared more than one hundred times and were documented by television crews. These phenomena occurred before witnesses and were examined in scientific laboratories.
