Biei, Agricultural town in Kamikawa, Japan.

The town extends across 677 square kilometers at the foot of Tokachidake Mountain Range, featuring rolling hills and multicolored flower fields throughout its territory.

The settlement grew from a village that separated from Kaguru in 1900, officially becoming a town in 1940 with the implementation of an agricultural cooperative model.

Photographer Shinzo Maeda brought recognition to the area through his landscape photographs, which are displayed at the Takushinkan Photo Gallery alongside works by his descendants.

Visitors can reach Biei via train from Asahikawa Station in 40 minutes or take the Lavender-go bus from Asahikawa Airport in 15 minutes.

The Shirogane Blue Pond contains aluminum particles from landslide prevention systems, creating a color that changes based on weather conditions and seasonal variations.
