Miyaki district

Miyaki district spreads across the eastern part of Saga Prefecture and comprises three municipalities joined together as one administrative area. The landscape consists of smaller towns and rural zones interspersed with farms and craft production centers.

This area formed in 1896 when three former districts from Hizen Province were consolidated into a single administrative unit. The reorganization reshaped how the region was governed and organized.

The district is best explored by car since it covers a wide area with communities spread out from each other. Getting around between the three municipalities is straightforward, and local roads connect the main centers well.

Miyaki town holds the distinction of being the first municipality in Saga Prefecture to write its name entirely in hiragana script rather than kanji. This unusual choice makes it stand out among other towns in the region.
