Iburihashi Station, railway station in Kaga, Ishikawa prefecture, Japan
Iburihashi Station is a small railway station on the IR Ishikawa Railway Line in Kaga with two side platforms at ground level connected by a level crossing. The station building is simple and unstaffed, with basic facilities and a nearby post office and small shops serving the local community and passing travelers.
The station opened in 1897 and long served as an important hub for travelers heading to nearby hot spring towns such as Katayamazu, Yamashiro, and Yamanaka. In March 2024, the station transferred from JR West to the newly formed IR Ishikawa Railway, marking its integration into the Hokuriku Shinkansen network.
The station's name refers to the nearby Iburihashi bridge, a detail that reflects local geography in how the place is called. The area around the station shows how people move through town, visiting craft shops where Kutani ware and Yamanaka lacquerware are made, and stopping at small local eateries that serve the neighborhood.
The station has no daily staff, so check train schedules before visiting, especially for evening departures. The area is walkable and you can easily reach the nearby town center or local craft shops on foot.
Despite being unstaffed, the station is carefully maintained and staff from nearby stations regularly help with ticketing and passenger assistance. Visitors often notice that though signage fades at night, the station name still reflects the strong local connection to the place.
