Mount Naeba, Stratovolcano in Nagano Prefecture, Japan

Mount Naeba is a stratovolcano located on the border between Nagano and Niigata prefectures with steep slopes composed of andesite rock. The landscape displays clear signs of its volcanic origin, with rocky formations that shape the mountain's appearance and structure.

Volcanic activity shaped this mountain hundreds of thousands of years ago, creating the geological structures visible today. This ancient formation made the mountain a defining feature in the central landscape of Honshu.

The mountain holds significance among Japan's hundred most celebrated peaks, drawing those seeking connection with the natural landscape. Locals and visitors alike value it as a place that represents the deep relationship between people and mountains in Japanese culture.

The mountain is accessible by train, with buses departing from nearby stations to reach the base. Visitors can easily plan a day trip and explore the facilities available for mountain activities.

An aerial tramway called Dragondola crosses the mountain to connect different areas for year-round activities. This cable car allows visitors to move between zones without undertaking lengthy hikes.
