Tōyako

Toyako is a town on the shore of a large lake in Japan's Hokkaido region, known for its hot springs and thermal baths. The settlement spreads around the lake, with hotels, inns, and restaurants focused on visitors who come to use the warm waters.

Modern-day Toyako formed in 2006 when two former communities in Hokkaido merged into one administrative unit. The newly created town gained worldwide attention in 2008 when it hosted a major international gathering.
