Roppongi Hills, Building complex in Roppongi district, Tokyo, Japan
Roppongi Hills is a building complex in the Roppongi district of Tokyo, Japan, centered around the 54-floor Mori Tower that rises 238 meters and combines offices, stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The complex spreads across several interconnected areas with public squares, art galleries, and an observation deck that offers visitors a mix of work, shopping, and leisure.
Mori Building Company developed this 27-acre site over 14 years, combining 400 smaller lots into an integrated urban center that opened in April 2003. The project transformed a historic residential area into a modern complex that redefined Roppongi's image as an international business and cultural district.
The Mori Art Museum in the upper floors shows international contemporary art exhibitions and hosts cultural events throughout the complex. The gallery brings international artists to Tokyo and turns this corner of Roppongi into a meeting place for art lovers and visitors looking for more than shopping.
The first six levels hold retail spaces and dining establishments, while floors seven through fifty house international corporate offices. Visitors can move freely through the public areas and explore the shops and eateries, while the observation deck in the upper floors has a separate entrance.
The Tokyo City View observation deck on the 52nd floor provides a full circle of views across Tokyo through floor-to-ceiling windows. On clear days visitors can see as far as Mount Fuji and experience the city skyline from a height few other places in the capital offer.
