Higashi-Kakogawa Station, railway station in Kakogawa, Hyogo prefecture, Japan
Higashi-Kakogawa Station is a railway station in Kakogawa, located on the Sanyo Main Line that runs between Kobe and Himeji. It has two platforms serving three tracks, and elevators are available throughout the station.
The station opened in 1961 after local residents donated land and funds to make its construction possible. It passed to West Japan Railway Company in 1987 and was rebuilt as an elevated structure in 2006.
The station has elevators and ramps, making it easy to use for all visitors. Local bus lines stop just outside and connect the area to shopping centers and schools around Kakogawa.
The station was originally funded by the local community rather than by a railway company, which was rare in Japan at the time. That origin gives the place a different feeling compared to most stations along the Sanyo Main Line.
