Toyotomi

Located in northwestern Hokkaido, Toyotomi spans 520 square kilometers, featuring the Sarobetsu Plain and mountainous regions along the Sea of Japan coast.

The territory was part of Teshio Province from 1868 to 1882, initially controlled by Matsumae Domain before transitioning through various administrative changes.

The name Toyotomi derives from Ebekorobetsu, an Ainu term describing a river abundant with fish, reflecting the area's connection to indigenous heritage.

The town maintains one elementary school, one junior high school, and transportation access through JR Hokkaido's Soya Main Line and National Route 40.

Toyotomi houses 16,000 dairy cows producing 72,000 tons of milk annually, making it Hokkaido's largest dairy production center.
