Siem Reap International Airport, International airport in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia.
Siem Reap International Airport is an international commercial facility in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, which began operations in October 2023. The site has a runway measuring 3,600 meters, allowing large aircraft such as the Airbus A340 or Boeing 747 to land.
The former terminal sat closer to the city center and had handled air traffic to the region since the 1960s. With the opening of the new facility in October 2023, the old site was closed and replaced by this modern installation outside the city.
Many arrivals use this gateway as their first stop before visiting the temple complexes located roughly 50 kilometers away in the jungle. The terminal architecture echoes the shape of traditional Khmer roofs, blending modern function with local building elements.
From the terminal to the city center, shared shuttle services and private taxis are available, with fares varying depending on demand. The ride takes around one hour, as this location sits farther from the center than the previous site.
The facility was built by a Chinese company under a 55-year concession, after which it will transfer to the Cambodian state. The terminal can handle around seven million passengers per year, considerably more than the former installation could manage.
