Party Foundation Museum, Political museum in Chung-guyok district, North Korea
The Party Foundation Museum displays exhibits, documents, and objects that show the formation and development of the Workers' Party of Korea from 1945 onward. The building sits on Munsu Street across from the Mansudae Grand Monument and holds seven exhibition rooms along with meeting spaces.
The building was constructed in 1923 during Japanese colonial rule as an exhibition hall. It was converted into a museum in 1970 and has displayed the party's founding story since then.
The space conveys how early party officials gathered and experienced pivotal moments together. The interior layout and arrangement of rooms show the daily reality of these meetings.
The museum sits centrally in the city and is accessible on foot from major streets. Visitors should check opening times beforehand and allow enough time to see the different exhibition rooms.
During national holidays, especially on October 10 for the annual party foundation celebration, students perform synchronized dances outside the building. These performances show the museum's role in the city's public life.
