Dalseong County is an administrative area forming the southern and western sections of Daegu and covers approximately 427 square kilometers along the Nakdong River. The territory is organized into several towns and townships that serve as local governance units.
The county originated in 757 as Daegu-hyeon, a dependent territory of Suchang-gun, and later merged into Daegu Metropolitan City in 1995. This consolidation marked the beginning of its modern role as part of the larger urban area.
