Yeongdeok County

Yeongdeok County spans 741 square kilometers along the East Sea coast, featuring numerous fishing ports and mountain ranges of the Taebaek chain.

The region maintains its traditional maritime roots since ancient times, developing from a small fishing settlement into a structured administrative division with one eup and eight myeon.

The annual Snow Crab Festival brings together local fishermen and visitors for traditional fishing demonstrations, seafood preparation techniques, and regional cooking methods.

The Donghae railway line, completed in 2018, connects the county to major urban centers, while Ganggu Port houses over 100 restaurants specializing in local seafood.

The county produces gwamegi, a regional specialty of half-dried herring, prepared through a precise process of natural air drying in winter months.
