Central Mosque, Religious center in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The Central Mosque features multiple towers with white marble walls and a prominent golden dome reaching 36 meters in height.
Built in 1999 on the location of an 1890 mosque that burned down in 1987, this structure was designed by architects Sultan Baimagambetov and Kazbek Zharylgapov.
Turkish calligraphers adorned the interior dome with Koranic verses in 2000, creating intricate patterns that reflect Islamic artistic traditions.
The mosque accommodates 7000 worshippers and requires visitors to remove shoes and follow specific dress codes before entering the prayer halls.
The National Bank of Kazakhstan featured this mosque on a special 500-tenge coin in 2006, marking its architectural importance.
