Burabay National Park
Burabay National Park, National park in Akmola Region, Kazakhstan
The national park extends over 83,510 hectares, with 47,400 hectares of forest areas and 8,493 hectares of surface waters.
The protected area received official designation as Burabay National Park in August 2000 through a government decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The granite formations within the park include Okzhetpes and Zhumbaktas rocks, which hold deep significance in Kazakh folklore and legends.
The park contains networks of hiking paths through pine forests, connecting five main lakes: Burabay, Shortandy, Big Shabakty, Small Shabakty, and Kotyrkol.
The park preserves coniferous and mixed deciduous forests that have remained intact since the Pleistocene period in the northern steppes.
