Nauan Hazrat Mosque, Islamic religious center in Kokshetau, Kazakhstan.
Nauan Hazrat Mosque is a large prayer house in Kokshetau with four minarets and a central dome. The two-story interior accommodates roughly 1,400 worshippers while separating prayer areas by gender.
The original building was constructed in the late 1800s through donations from Tatar merchants in the region. After more than a century, it underwent major renovation and modernization in the 2010s.
The mosque blends classical Islamic design with Kazakh decorative patterns, creating a distinctive visual experience throughout. Visitors notice white marble surfaces and traditional ornamental details that define the interior spaces.
Visitors should know that prayer areas for men and women are separated on different floors. It is recommended to wear respectful clothing and check prayer times before visiting.
The interior is illuminated by 45 large chandeliers that cast a warm glow over the marble and stone surfaces. This lighting creates a distinctive character that makes the building striking both day and night.
