Tuz

Tuz is a salt lake located in Akkuly District within a tectonic depression of the Kulunda Plain. The body of water sits amid open steppe landscape and contains mineral-rich water typical of endorheic basins in the region.

The depression formed through geological processes as part of the Irtysh basin system in the southern Kulunda Plain. The saline character of the lake reflects ancient geological conditions that shaped this landscape.

Local communities in the Pavlodar Region have developed methods for salt extraction from the lake, maintaining traditional practices across generations.

The lake sits away from main road networks, with the nearest significant highway at some distance. The nearby village of Tosagash provides a reference point for those exploring the area.
