Kostobe

Kostobe is an archaeological site in southern Kazakhstan containing multiple layers of ancient settlement structures, protective walls, and remnants from old trading activities. The excavation area preserves traces of buildings and human activity from centuries ago.

The location was an important hub along a major trade route between China and Central Asia in medieval times. This position made it a meeting point for merchants and different peoples.

The site shows traces of different peoples through found objects like ceramics, coins, and building pieces from various cultures. These items tell the story of people who lived and traded here.

Visitors need advance permission to access the location since ongoing research requires protection of the sensitive excavation areas. Local guides lead visitors along designated routes to prevent damage.

The fortification walls display construction techniques that blend both Eastern and Western building traditions. This mixing of styles shows how different trade partners shared their knowledge.
