Pha That Luang

Pha That Luang is a golden stupa and one of the most important religious structures in Vientiane, rising over the city skyline. The monument is covered with intricate details and ornamental designs that extend across all of its outer surfaces.

The structure was built in the 16th century under King Setthathirat's rule, though sacred buildings had stood on this site for many centuries before. Today's form grew from a long tradition of religious construction that developed at this location over time.

The place serves as a gathering point for Buddhist believers who participate in festivals and ceremonies throughout the year. People come here to pray together, and you can sense the reverence in how visitors move through the space with respect.
