Medelynas is a residential district extending 3 to 5 kilometers north of Šiauliai's center, bounded by a railway to Riga on the east and the city ring road on the west. Industrial facilities and the Gubernijos railway station occupy the eastern section, while the western area contains residential buildings along the Vijolė River.
