Velnio akmuo Švendubrėje

Velnio akmuo Švendubrėje is a granite boulder located near Švendubrė in Lithuania on the right bank of the Nemunas River. Modern wooden sculptures stand beside the stone, creating a layered site that combines natural and human-made elements.

The boulder gained status as an archaeological monument in 1972 after research confirmed its ancient importance. Later investigations during the 1980s revealed markings that suggested ritual practices from prehistoric periods.

Local stories connect this boulder to supernatural events involving demonic forces and acts of construction or destruction. These tales shape how visitors understand and experience the site today.

The site sits roughly 5 kilometers from Druskininkai and is easily visible from the river. Access is straightforward since the location sits in an open area, making it accessible to most visitors.

The stone's surface holds nine depressions on one side that resemble hand and foot impressions. These indentations may have been created by prehistoric people performing ritual activities at the location.
