D'Coque

D'Coque is a sports and cultural center in Kirchberg featuring a distinctive roof made of three curved shells separated by ring-shaped sections. It contains an Olympic swimming pool, athletics tracks, combat sports areas, fitness rooms, a multi-use arena, and guest accommodations.

French architect Roger Taillibert designed this national sports facility, which opened to the public in 1982. The venue was built to serve as a major sports center for the country.

The venue draws visitors from across the country to watch competitions and attend concerts and events throughout the year. People experience this place as a gathering point for both athletic achievement and entertainment in the capital region.

The different facilities are clearly marked, and the site is easy to navigate whether you want to swim, train, or attend an event. There is enough space for multiple activities happening at the same time without confusion.

The roof uses approximately 5,850 cubic meters of laminated wood supported by nine piers, giving the building its distinctive organic shape. This wooden structure is unusual for such a large sports facility and creates a warm, natural appearance from the inside.
