Ifrane

Ifrane is a mountain city in the Middle Atlas range that hosts the Michlifen ski station, situated between 1880 and 2060 meters (6,200 and 6,750 feet) in elevation. The resort features multiple runs for different skill levels and scattered lodging options throughout the surrounding peaks.

The town was established during France's protectorate rule in Morocco, with the first designs drawing from European alpine architecture. Many buildings from that founding period still shape the appearance of the city today.

The winter sports facilities in Ifrane merge traditional Moroccan hospitality with outdoor recreation, creating an intersection of North African and European mountain traditions.

Skiing conditions are best from December through March when snow covers the slopes. Gear rental and lodging options are available during this season, though booking ahead is recommended for peak times.

As the highest ski destination in Africa, Ifrane presents the opportunity to practice winter sports in the morning and visit traditional Moroccan markets in the afternoon.
