Dar el Makhzen, Royal palace in Kasbah, Tangier, Morocco
The palace features two inner courtyards adorned with marble fountains, detailed wooden ceilings, and ornate architectural elements throughout its grand structure.
Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah commissioned the construction of this palace in 1864, replacing an older structure previously established by Sultan Muhammad IV.
The Museum of Mediterranean Cultures within the palace exhibits Moroccan art collections, including decorated firearms, carpets, silks from Fez, and historical manuscripts.
The palace remains closed to general visitors, but people can observe the ornate main entrance and exterior architecture from the surrounding public areas.
Located at the highest point in Tangier, the palace provides clear views extending across the Strait of Gibraltar to the Spanish coastline.
