Government House is a six-story reinforced concrete structure with a white stone exterior located on Great National Assembly Square in Chișinău. The building follows a П-shaped floor plan and dominates the plaza with its broad facade.
The building was constructed in 1964 during the Soviet period as the headquarters of the Council of Ministers of the Moldovan SSR. Following independence, it was transformed into the seat of government for the modern Republic of Moldova.
The Monument to the Victims of the Soviet Occupation stands in front of the building, marking the complex relationship between Moldova and its past.
The building is located at the intersection of Stefan cel Mare Avenue and Great National Assembly Square in central Chișinău. As the seat of government, it is not open to public tours, but visitors can freely view the exterior and surrounding plaza.
The main entrance displays the national coat of arms and flag with an inscription officially identifying the building as the seat of government. A monument honoring victims of Soviet occupation stands on the plaza in front, marking Moldova's complicated relationship with its past.
